Daves Used Plants

90’s Vaporwave Experimental Web Design

Dave’s Used Plants (davesusedplants.biz) was a deliberately loud, nostalgic, and unconventional web project inspired by early 90’s internet culture and vaporwave aesthetics. The goal wasn’t clean minimalism — it was personality, chaos, and retro digital energy done intentionally.

This project pushed beyond standard web design principles on purpose. Clashing neon colour palettes, expressive typography, layered textures, and playful layouts were all part of the direction. The design nods to Geocities-era internet while being built with modern structure and responsiveness underneath.

Although visually disruptive, the site remains technically sound. Navigation works, performance is controlled, and the structure is scalable. The challenge was balancing nostalgia and “controlled chaos” without letting usability break down.

While most of my projects prioritise clarity, performance, and SEO for service businesses, Dave’s Used Plants demonstrates creative range — showing that intentional design doesn’t always have to follow conventional rules to be effective.
